Message from the Developer

My work focuses on bridging clinical practice and research in speech-language therapy.
I aim to transform questions arising in clinical practice into research, and to return those findings to clinical care, education, and rehabilitation.

Research Journey

In 2003, I presented my first research on a language disorder screening test at an academic conference.

Since then, I have continued integrating clinical practice and research while working on the development, standardization, and validation of the Screening Test for Aphasia & Dysarthria (STAD).

For the Japanese version of STAD, I conducted a standardization study involving 222 neurologically healthy adults and a multicenter collaborative study involving 314 individuals with brain injuries across 20 institutions nationwide.

Currently, based on the findings obtained from the Japanese version, I am working toward the international standardization of the English version of STAD.

Research cannot be accomplished by one individual alone.

The continued support and collaboration of many people—including patients and research participants who contributed to our studies, research collaborators, and speech-language pathologists at participating institutions—have been essential to my ongoing research activities.

Moving forward, I will continue conducting research rooted in clinical practice and strive to share these outcomes with healthcare, education, and society both in Japan and internationally.

Major Research Achievements

I have published numerous research outcomes, including original research articles, review articles, English abstracts, and presentations at national and international conferences.

Research papers related to STAD received the Outstanding Paper Award on Speech-Language-Hearing Research and have been published in the international journal Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica.

STAD research has also been presented at multiple American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention.
